District of Columbia

The mayor of the District of Columbia signed into law The District of Columbia Federal Worker Housing Relief Emergency Act. It was effective February 6, 2019. As an emergency act, these provisions will expire on May 7, 2019 unless the Act is extended.

Florida

The Governor of Florida signed into law House Bill 935 relating to business-purpose loans and prohibiting the misrepresentation of a residential mortgage loan as a business-purpose loan. The Bill is effective July 1, 2019.

New Jersey

The New Jersey Department of Banking and Insurance issued a bulletin adjusting the maximum principal amount for a loan to be considered “high cost” under New Jersey’s Home Ownership Security Act of 2002. The adjustment is effective for all completed applications on loans received by the lender on or after January 1, 2019.

Ohio

The Governor of Ohio signed into law House Bill 489 relating to mortgage servicing. The Bill incorporates mortgage servicing into the Ohio Residential Mortgage Lending Act and requires mortgage servicers to register under the RMLA. The Bill was effective as of March 20, 2019.
